Hello Husky,

This has been a difficult week for our UW community. The killing of one of our students has left us shocked and heartbroken. As we all mourn this loss, we extend our hearts and our deepest sympathies to the student’s family, friends, neighbors, classmates and loved ones.

Tragedies like this affect different people in different ways. However you are feeling, please know that you are not alone. The university has a number of services that are here to support you:

  • : Counseling, assessment, referral and crisis intervention services. Drop-in services are available via Let’s Talk.
  • Husky Assist: On-campus support from trained mental health professionals for students in crisis.
  • : Offers a variety of support services for students, including Peer Wellness Coaching.
  • : Safe transportation options to and from campus.
  • : Direct access to the fastest possible safety assistance on and off campus.

Husky Experience

Check out the Spring Carnival

HFS and ASUW are teaming up for the on Friday, May 22, from 12–10 p.m., at Denny Field and Center Table.

There will be games like cornhole, ring toss, pickleball and more, plus all your carnival faves like BBQ, turkey legs, funnel cake, loaded fries and sweet treats like soft serve and strawberry lemonade. And don’t miss the Wind Machine Game for a chance to win prizes!

Find support at the Counseling Center

With everything that’s happening, you may find yourself impacted. You may not even be sure what you need, but you’d like to talk. The is here to support you and offers:

  • Drop-in hours with a licensed counselor through , happening at the Q Center today (May 13) from 2:30-4 p.m. and May 14 from 2-3 p.m., at the Career Center on May 14 from 2:30-4 p.m., and at CIRCLE on May 15 from 2:30-4 p.m. Let’s Talk is available every week; check the Counseling Center website or for times and locations.

Help shape Counseling Center services and represent student voices — especially from underserved communities — by . Open to all students, no prior Counseling Center experience needed. Meetings are the first Wednesdays of the month from 12–1 p.m. Applications are due May 20 at 8 p.m.

We’re celebrating the UW’s progress toward digital accessibility and inclusion at Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD). Make sure you complete the Understanding Civil Rights course by May 31, 2026! This course will help you better understand civil rights at the UW, with a focus on protections related to race, color and national origin (including shared ancestry and ethnicity).
