You can听call on听Husky Assist when you or a student, faculty or staff member on campus听is听facing an urgent mental health or substance use issue. Husky Assist team members are trained mental health professionals who can respond compassionately to a variety of situations. Dear UW Community,
I am heartbroken to write to you today following the听.听This devastating act of violence has taken a beloved member from our Husky community and shaken us all.听I offer my deepest sympathies and condolences to the family and loved ones of the听victim.听听
There are no words that can express the profound loss of a student. While investigators have not yet identified a suspect or a motive, I want to recognize that when violence affects a member of our LGBTQIA+ community, it can cause additional distress. Our Division of Student Life is reaching out to students and communities who are affected and providing support and resources to help them through this very difficult ordeal.听
I thank the Seattle Police Department for leading this investigation as听they work听to听find the person responsible for this听horrendous crime.听We will share additional information and resources as they become available.听
Moments like this remind us how deeply connected we are as a community, and I ask you to take care of yourselves and one another. Support services are available to any student, faculty, or staff member who needs help during this听difficult time, and I urge anyone who is struggling to reach out.听
