Dear UW Community,

I am heartbroken to write to you today following theÌý.ÌýThis devastating act of violence has taken a beloved member from our Husky community and shaken us all.ÌýI offer my deepest sympathies and condolences to the family and loved ones of theÌývictim.ÌýÌý

There are no words that can express the profound loss of a student. While investigators have not yet identified a suspect or a motive, I want to recognize that when violence affects a member of our LGBTQIA+ community, it can cause additional distress. Our Division of Student Life is reaching out to students and communities who are affected and providing support and resources to help them through this very difficult ordeal.Ìý

I thank the Seattle Police Department for leading this investigation asÌýthey workÌýtoÌýfind the person responsible for thisÌýhorrendous crime.ÌýWe will share additional information and resources as they become available.Ìý

Moments like this remind us how deeply connected we are as a community, and I ask you to take care of yourselves and one another. Support services are available to any student, faculty, or staff member who needs help during thisÌýdifficult time, and I urge anyone who is struggling to reach out.Ìý

Sincerely,
Robert J. Jones
