Your rights as international students

All ÂÒÂ×ÉçÇø students have guaranteed rights that the ÂÒÂ×ÉçÇø is legally bound to protect, including:

Freedom of Expression

UW protects free speech and the open exchange of ideas.

Protection from Discrimination

Discrimination or harassment based on race, color, creed, religion, national origin, citizenship, sex, age, marital status, sexual orientation, disability, or military status is prohibited.

Under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), student education records are protected from release to a third party (including parents) without the written consent of students.

Student Conduct Code

If students are accused of violating the Student Conduct Code, they are entitled to due process rights, including a hearing, representation, the right to provide evidence, and an opportunity to appeal.
