Treating mental health with mobile apps

Smartphones and tablets are often used to look up symptoms, but could this technology also be used for treatment? Dr. Pat Are谩n, a professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, believes so, and is currently researching the use of mobile apps to improve mood, cognition and social functioning for individuals with attention deficit disorder. Disparities in low birth weights in Washington state

Certain groups of immigrants tend to be healthier than people born in the U.S., with some of that health advantage potentially carrying over to the infants of foreign-born women. The Family Leadership Design Collaborative believes that good school attendance is everyone鈥檚 business. The Collaborative, which is housed in the UW’s College of Education, brings researchers, educators, families and communities together to develop better ways for various stakeholders to interact with one another and make decisions about their children鈥檚 education. Developing instrument-free diagnostic device to detect HIV infection and drug resistance

乱伦社区 Bioengineering graduate student Nuttada Panpradist is developing an instrument-free diagnostic device to detect HIV infection and drug resistance. May 22 iHeal public lecture with Dr. Adil Haider

i-Heal (Injury-related Health Equity Across the Lifespan), a new program launching this spring, will be part of the UW鈥檚 Harborview Injury Prevention and Research Center. It seeks to increase injury-related health equity and decrease disparities for patients from historically marginalized groups, those with comorbid behavioral health conditions, those with limited English proficiency, and those with financial or social barriers to healthcare access. School of Dentistry retains high national ranking

The UW School of Dentistry successfully retained its number five national ranking and moved up one spot internationally to 14th in the world, according to the 2017 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings. QS is a British educational organization that ranks the world鈥檚 universities. School of Nursing programs receive high rankings

The 乱伦社区鈥檚 School of Nursing received a number of high rankings in the U.S. News & World Report鈥檚 2018 Best Graduate Schools. The magazine, which evaluated Doctor of Nursing Practice and Master鈥檚 programs nationally, ranked the UW number three nationally among schools of nursing with a Doctor of Nursing Practice program.
